Artist's Comments

I love drawing cities. Not Edinburgh type, European cities: small and picturesque and beige. Those are nice.. but I want to have to look up to see the sky. I want to be somewhere and think, This Is High! New York-Tokyo. I like to draw that sort of city. Doesn't it seem that just about anything can happen there? Orange juice, cappucinos in paper cups, watches and streetlights and pink robots. It's fast, exciting. Fun.

This is a lazy sort of a drawing. Pen on painted paper, it's no effort at all. Fast and fun, like cities (not so good).

(inventing cities is fun, too. have you seen the futurists' designs for utopian cities? check them out)

I don't quite have it in me to comment on all the pics you've submitted tonight, but suffice to say (at least for now) that they're all looking fantastic. It's nice to see your work proper again, rather than just the tantalising glimpses from behind cups of tea and coffee...
Sadly, I'm too much of a natural showman to be able to maintain that level of mystique...

I dunno, I think Edinburgh can feel like this sometimes...
Sitting on my rock on the crags today at twilight, buffeted by the wind and feeling hoplessly underdressed in my thick hoodie with the vast city mazing out below me...
feels a bit like your drawing, somehow...
Besides which, despite her rather precarous predicament, the girl seems to be swinging with an almost zen-like calm. Surely it's just a rather eccentric form of meditation...? ;)

Lovely, lovely drawing.

I really love your style and the atmosphere! ...It's beautiful, odd enough to my taste! ;)
