Artist's Comments

Some kind of pseudo-Glaswegian landscape based on sketches I've had lying around since the last time I was in that part of the world. Great town, Glasgow. Bit rough around the edges, but everywhere you look there's something that makes you do a double take: thistle-down flying in the city centre, pensioners in summer dresses on motorbikes, poker clubs next to nurseries, businessmen drinking Buckfast on concrete park benches... I always feel dizzy when I come home from Glasgow. Though that might just be the pollution.

This isn't anything special, just something I painted on an old canvas over a picture I was never going to finish. And now I don't have any paint left, and I can't afford any more. Bugger. I'm going to sign up for some psychology experiments.

Still experimenting with Gimp, the photo editing program, seeing as I don't know how to get Photoshop off my old laptop and onto this one. Colours might be a bit off.

Flock by ~Lilaims Suggester writes: "The way she's portrayed movement in the sky and the bustle of the city. The color contrast that not only pulls the viewer in, but gives a great sense of a dirty industrial city. While she claims in her description it's nothing special, I'm going to have to disagree.", and I'm inclined to agree with that. (Suggested by ~Eric-Dyer and Featured by `limnides)

Cheers :D I really like the last few pictures you've uploaded, by the way.

There is something enchanting about your paintings. That and they, especially this one, remind me of the sorts of art my grandmother would collect on her various excursions.

I love "mist" that hangs about the buildings in layers. It makes the city unapproachable but living. So that's weird. :)

Perfect composition, *harmony*...

Your grandmother? I don't know whether that's a compliment or not :D My gran doesn't like any art that isn't indistinguishable from reality. Of course her eyesight's going now, so reality for her is getting closer to the kind of impressionist nonsense I like. It's strange to see the pictures she buys getting more modern as time goes on, not because her preference has changed but because her eyes have..
