My sensory memory is good (that's not really immodest to say, is it? i think it's like saying "i have the telekinetic ability to move cornflakes two centimetres to the left" or "i have brown eyes", except that neither of those are true). I can remember just about every significant time I have seen a Volkswagen camper clearly. The first time I saw an orange one like this was in Castletown, and the world was grey - there was fog like the world was melting and I could hear the sea, and my aunt was talking about a black car. I can smell her dog thinking about it.. he's always filthy and she doesn't let him in the car anymore, not now she has a new one (which isn't the black one she was talking about, but a green one not conductive to positive dog/teenager interaction). I remember that a boy with a red fleece was playing on the climbing frame in the park, and I could only see the red throught the fog. Bright colours were all that showed. And I saw the orange of the Volkswagen camper, the Best Car in the World. I fell in love. I want one.
I want to travel around the world in it. I won't have to have a house until I get rich/old enough for that kind of free lifestyle to be fashionable and pretentious and stupid - students are allowed to do that. People humour them. Because I really will just make enough money to pay for the petrol and the blankets and the Penguin Classics books; I won't be secretly ordering hampers from whichever organic-fairtrade-noncapitalist franchise is in the Vogue lifestyle section's "going up" list, and I won't have an authentic 18th century newbuild second home in Cornwall. I will live on coffee and vitamin tablets, and I won't die because people don't die in their dreams. It'll be magic.
I should learn to drive.
Well, this is just a silly doodle I'm uploading because my brain cells are replacing themselves with coffee grounds and I can't sleep. Coffee grounds played the most major role in the creation of this mindless drawing: as mind-fuel, as the cause of the shaky lines, and as paint. There's some watercolour and black pen (and maybe a little white acrylic? only a very little though) too, but I am starting to think that caffeine is using my body as a medium for its own imagination.
Thank you, by the way, to my new lots-of-watchers - I really really appreciate it! And.. I apologise for this being the first new picture I show you. I have others. They're silly too.. I'm experimenting with styles and other things right now, so I'm sorry if there are some you don't like. But thank you!
P.S. (the pacman? there's one drawn on the wall of the Volkswagen garage in Edinburgh. shaky connections are the best kind, like rope bridges)
